A nourishing, deeply flavourful twist on your daily cacao ritual.
After making a batch of sweet black sesame swirl for some cookies (recipe coming soon), I noticed a thin coating of caramelised sesame left behind in the saucepan. Instead of rinsing it out, I used it as the base for this rich and creamy black sesame tsokolate. The result was too good not to share.
This recipe combines the earthy depth of toasted black sesame with the adaptogenic support of our Lola blend—infused with tulsi and amla to ground and balance.
If you haven’t made the sesame swirl, don’t worry—I’ve included an easy variation to start from scratch.
Ingredients
For the Black Sesame Tsokolate
- Leftover coating from your Sweet Black Sesame Swirl (or see alternative below)
- 200 ml water
- 100 ml coconut condensed milk
- 2 heaped tsp black sesame paste (made by blending 200g toasted black sesame seeds until smooth)
- 3 x Tsokolate Lola tableya
For the Black Sesame Tsokolate
- 150 ml soy milk
- 50 ml coconut condensed milk
- 2 tsp black sesame paste
Method
1. If using leftover sesame swirl:
Add water, coconut condensed milk, and black sesame paste to the same saucepan used to make the swirl (with a light sesame coating still inside).
Warm gently over low heat until steaming but not boiling.
Add the Lola tableya and use a hand frother to blend until thick and creamy. Set aside.
2. If starting from a clean saucepan:
Toast 200 g of black sesame seeds and grind into a paste using a food processor or high speed blender (or use pre-made black sesame paste).
In a saucepan, combine water, coconut condensed milk, and black sesame paste. Warm gently over low heat.
Add the Lola tableya and froth until smooth and creamy. Set aside.
3. For the foam:
In a separate small jug, combine soy milk, coconut condensed milk, and black sesame paste.
Froth until a thick foam forms.
4. To serve:
- Pour the black sesame Tsokolate into your favourite mug and top with generous spoonfuls of the foam. Enjoy warm.
